Also, is there a way to get them to fold out so you can wash them without having to leave the door open ??

I have these steps. I really like them a lot. They are really cool. I would recommend these over any other step out there.

Someone asked about cleaning them. I am sure there is a way to clean them without having the door open. I just don't know how to do it. I have never really looked into it.

When you open the door, the steps fold out. Now hold your weight on the boards as you shut the door and they stay deployed.

Is that a design thing, or a "I found this out " thing ?

They are designed that way. I do it all the time at the car wash.

The way I clean mine is open the door and close it slightly so that it isn't fully closed and hose them off. They have a warranty of 5 years. The best parts of these are they are made strong. They don't flex, they have a sand paper like feel so you don't slip, tuck away when your driving, and MADE IN AMERICA!

My boss has them on his 2012 mega cab and he uses that truck for personal and work. The steps have held up fairly. He has had a lot of issues with the motor going out but I think that's because he's in and out of his truck so much (doors always opening and closing). But as far as I know other than that they are good

I went with Bestop Powerboards. Really happy with them. Posted a couple of pics of them here: http://www.ramforum.com/f41/first_mod_bestop_power_board_nx-53921/

Like others have said, open the door, put a little weight on them when you shut the door, and they stay extended. It's a feature. I just hose them down with water. I tried to use a sponge the first time, but the rough surface of the step shredded the sponge. Water is all you need.

Now that I read your post. It is sketchy how they need to splice into wiring on amp powerboards. I guess, I see why.

My Bestop Power Boards are pre-wirelesss so they are tapped into the trucks wiring. Been installed on three trucks now without issue...
