I plan on switching my UAS for a UAQ and have a question about future updates. From what I've read on this forum, when it is time to update the maps for the navigation, I first need to update the UConnect system. And from what I understand, in order to update the UConnect, I first need to go to the UConnect website and enter my VIN and it then determines what if any update is needed. My question is, how do I associate the new UAQ radio with my VIN? Does that make sense?

You don't. You need the Donor truck's VIN for UConnect Updates.

As far as Map updates, I think you just use the VIN of whatever vehicle it currently is installed in.

If I buy a brand new radio from a parts store, there is no donor truck to get a VIN from, unless I'm missing something. The UConnect site states that a UConnect Software Update must be installed before you can purchase and install a map update. Ever hear of Catch 22?

It seems like there should be a way.

Also, does anybody know how to get in touch with anybody at allmoparparts.com? I received one email from them saying that the new radio is not compatible with my VIN and that they will place a hold on the order until they hear from me. I replied directly to their email, but have not heard back and when I try to submit a ticket on their contact us site, it won't accept it, just says that the ticket could not be submitted.

@AllMoparParts.com is a forum member named Benny. You can try messaging him. If you don't get a donor VIN you can try to find one buy using salvage yard listings and/or for sale listings for a vehicle equipped with a UAQ that hasn't received the update (the former is the more neighborly option).

There is also a thread on this forum in which many of the firmwares have been cataloged for download by user @Mpgrimm2 ...

You really do need to message vendor AllMoparParts though the forum (conversion option under their Avatar) vs their own website since Benny can get you squared away with an invoice and likely a forum discount code to use.
The regular parts & service people at the dealership are likely the ones that responded to you and don't generally support/aware of what non factory mods can be done. Its not their fault, just the way they are trained.

As @SitKneelBend mentioned, once you get the UAQ it will be a direct swap (uConnect phone app/remote start/unlock features may not work), you will need to locate a 2018/19 classic vin truck with the same UAQ radio for future software updates. (V22.6 is latest currently). I did the same swap from UAS to UAQ in my 18 Laramie when I had it.

After these 4c UAQ's being out for almost 4 years, I still haven't seen any map update options on the uConnect/HERE site. (Just the 13-17 RAx Harmon radios)

I am willing to bet that you guys get really tired of answering the same questions over and over. I am a complete idiot when it comes to most things dealing with computers and this forum. I ask that you take pity on someone who is forum challenged as I have no idea what you mean, Mpgrimm2, when you say I should message vendor AllMoparParts though the forum (conversion option under their Avatar). How do I do that? Thanks again.

I'm learning little by little. I found a link(?) at the top of the forum that says Vendor and from there I see a link for AllMoparParts so I think I am making progress.

If you click on their picture you should get an option to send them a private message (it might say start a conversation).

@tron67j
John, best to send a message to him with that info vs posting it, or one of the resellers will scoop it up and mark up the price.

Sometimes I just don't think, I was in the middle of a meeting and found it while mentally floating. Thanks for the catch
