Ok guys,
I would like to get a tonneau cover, and after reading on this forum about the Bakflip G2, I thought I had made up my mind to get one. I went to a truck accessories store and looked at the G2, and while I was there, the lady that owned the place had nothing good to say about the Bakflip. She said the rubber around the edges warps and leaks, and that the hinges fall apart and also leak. She said they've had a bunch come back. They had a display there, and it looked alright, but I could see where the rubber around the outer edges was actually starting to get wavy, and this display was inside. Then I looked on line, and the reviews for the G2 just aren't good. Lots of complaints about leaky hinges and the things just falling apart after a year or two.

Now I'm thinking about the roll up soft covers, or even the soft tri folds. They're much cheaper, which is a plus, but I don't want it to look "cheap" or crappy. Any thoughts?

I had an Access Lorado roll up tonneau on my truck and really liked it. It was low profile and had velcro down the sides. Never had any trouble with it and the bed stayed dry.

I've hurd nothing but good things about bak. I have the g2 on mine. When it came out of the box (like the display at the place u went to) it is wavy. It needs to be in the heat of the sun to kinda mold to your truck. Also bak prides them self on their hinge design. If anything happens they will replace it.

Ya had mine for a while now not 1 problem when you fold it up the rubber gets a little out of shaper but after you lay it back down it goes right back where it belongs. And if she had so many problems lol why would she still be selling it or maybe she was just trying to get you to buy a more exp one.

^x2! I have an access lorado, and I absolutely love it! Looks great, easy to install, and seems to last a long long time.

As another option, I've had my Retrax roll top cover for 5 years now. I had it on my 1500, and its now on my 3500 and imho, looks as good as new. Its as water-tight as I would expect a cover to be. I do not have a tailgate accessory on my 3500, but on my 1500 with the 'spoiler', it met up real nice and seemed to be water-resistant. The retrax is supposed to be strong enough to have 2 people stand on, however I've never done that myself so I cannot say for sure. There's no way someone is going to cut through it with a knife. It slides open/closed easily, provided there's no ice on it. Even with ice, a little coaxing it'll go.

interesting...i had one of the original g2's and i used that thing a lot....never had any issues with the hinges. Like others said, the heat of the sun makes the rubber edges lay flat to the truck. You will save some decent money though getting a roll up, so either way you go....if you are happy that is all that matters.

Extang Encore

Just had the Extang encore installed and so far I love it. Being able to access the bed at both the tailgate and the front of the bed is a great feature and the cover can be removed in less than a minute if needed

I like that Extang Encore, but no way the banker is gonna let me drop $900 on it.

Installed the G2 last night, was pretty straightforward and easy. The fitment was tight with the factory drop-in bedliner but everything seems to work out fine. Like said before, the edges are a little curled up, and since its a balmy 18 degrees in NE right now, I'll probably have to wait for some good sun to flatten them out. All and all, I am very happy with the product, looks great!
