Other than the obvious difference in Wheel and Tire size is there any other real difference between the 2 setups?

That is what I am asking.. is there any difference other than tire/wheel size? Are there any pros/cons to either setup.

17s are typically cheaper, but the 17s listed are wider....so that might negate that savings over the 18s. 17s also provide a taller sidewall, dare I say - improving the ride.

In this case the 17" setup is actually cheaper. Plus I am hoping the taller sidewall will improve the ride.

With that being said I am just waiting for the parts place to call me back Monday with a full quote for all parts and install. I hope to have this done by Friday.. if all goes well..

i still vote 18" rim with "35's" (34.4")

IMO you will not feel a difference between a 17" rim and a 18" rim, and 18" rim with 35's are a perfect match

as long as you have the clearance go with the 35's

+1 not to come off as sounding like a db but if you're worried about ride comfort from a truck lol, realize that you bought a truck.

To go with an 18" rim and maintain roughly the same tire size would run me another $300. I have been trying to keep the parts, not counting labor, in my budget so from where I stand an extra 300 for a rim that is an inch bigger is a waste of money.

Other than tire size, the load and speed rating are pretty different.

The 295/65R18 are 127P. This is rated for 3,860 lb load @ 80 psi (Load Range E) and have a speed rating of 93mph

The 315/70R17 are 121Q. This is rated for 3,195 lb load @ 50 psi (Load range C) and have a speed rating of 99mph

With this info the 315/70R17 are going to ride MUCH better than the load range E 295/65R18. However if you tow or haul much, the 295/65R18 may be better for you

Thanks for that info. It is a truck so I will never come anywhere near 90 MPH specially with 2 kids in the truck. I don't tow much maybe 1 time a month if that as my quad gets put in the back of the truck.
