I have a 2015 Bighorn. Regular cab, 8' bed. The truck has been great, but I am looking to trade up to a 2021. At least a Big Horn, but hopefully a Laramie or above trim level. Of course I need an 8' bed.

Has anyone heard anything about an 8' bed in a 1/2 ton or has this become a thing of the past?

I'm sure you already know this but the last 1500 RAM regular cab long bed was a 2020 classic Tradesman according to the RAM web page configurator.

Well, I'm sure disappointed. It seems like Ram has given up the 8' bed on the half ton. I thought maybe it was a matter of a late plant opening or a Covid issue or something. The 3/4 ton's are overkill for my needs with their big motors and chassis, etc. I see the new Ford's come in an 8' bed regular cab XLT trim and a Super Cab in the Lariat trim level. I have really liked my Big Horn though, and would like to get another.

My guess is bean counters. Ford has large fleet ordering so I guess that gives them the advantage on civilian vehicles.

As stated. Right now they are offering the regular cab and 8 foot bed with the classic.

They have not made an upgraded 8 foot bed yet as even the 2021 HD still uses the 4th gen bed

Hate to say it but 8-foot beds on half-tons are pretty much no different from stick shifts, 8-tracks and cassette tapes; not enough demand for them so you’re gonna start to see less and less of them. They only wanna produce what the majority consumer wants.

Yep, it’s hard to beat those sweet deals, cheap prices and great incentives to buy them plain ole Phord trucks for fleet use. Guess they gotta protect that “best sold for 40 whatever years” BS one way or another. Lol.

I had a 2007 regular cab 1/2 ton Ram with 8' bed and loved that truck. It's a shame they decided not build them. I miss the Dakota too!
