Anyone know why lowering spindles widen your track width?

I've been looking at possibly buying a set of lowering spindles for my 2004 Ram 1500 quad cab 2wd 4.7L.
Every one I've looked at state that they will widen your track width by 1/2".
Anyone know why?

I would think it's needed for brake rotor clearance of the lower ball joint/a-arm
