Apparently it's not just our Ram headlights that suck.

Came across this article: New IIHS ratings show most headlights are lacking

I find it odd that a Prius is considered a midsize car???

The Toyota Prius v is the only midsize car out of 31 evaluated to earn a good rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's first-ever headlight ratings.

The best available headlights on 11 cars earn an acceptable rating, while nine only reach a marginal rating. Ten of the vehicles can't be purchased with anything other than poor-rated headlights.

A vehicle's price tag is no guarantee of decent headlights. Many of the poor-rated headlights belong to luxury vehicles.

"If you're having trouble seeing behind the wheel at night, it could very well be your headlights and not your eyes that are to blame," says David Zuby, IIHS executive vice president and chief research officer.

something to be said about the old Sylvania sealed halogen headlights. Those were always bright enough.

Yeah it seems a lot of cars headlights suck. By now I think it would be cheap enough to have every car have LED or HID projectors.

I am not going to be driving to much longer due to eyesight loss ie 20/200-20/220 without glasses 20/40-20/60 with Coke bottle lens, once the left eye hits 20/50 **** there goes the drivers. I am fine with that as I do not want to kill anyone out on the road, my wife can drive me and whatever toy to the shows.

Having said that I find the headlights on the Sports+ models to be just fine for night driving.

If it weren't for my fog lights I'd have bought HIDs from Retro Shop a long time ago.

With the fogs on I can handle everything at 70 mph, except a heavy rainfall on a worn/poorly marked highway--then I have to slow down to 50-55mph. Given most freeway speed limits are now 70mph, I get a lot of ugly looks as I get passed.

I experimented and used the same bulbs as in the quad hi-beams in my fog lights and boy was that good, but the aim for fogs is too high and I didn't want to be that A-hole with 'his brights on' in everyone's rearview.

I'm glad to see someone is starting to raise a fuss about it, maybe we'll see decent headlights become a standard now. That being said, I've never had an issue with visibility in my truck. Perhaps itsbecaise that's all I'm use to having only driven dodge vehicles, but at 65-70 mph I have no issue, unless it's storming of course, but in the case of a storm, it's usually traction that slows me down before visibility.

Just wondering if you knew that you can adjust the aim of your fogs..

IMO
Did not know that, but its so much light that to adjust down enough not to be a butt head, I'd have puddle lights in front.

I used to love my 7" round Cibie's. Man, could the French cut some awesome glass optics. But I think they are no more.

Maybe.. I have opt7 led in mine.. Bright as f***

There is a very sharp cut off with my fog housing (vertical).. It's worth a shot .

Exactly, wife's Enclave has great headlights, but the back up camera stinks. My Ram has 10x better radio/backup screen.

But headlights you'd think nowadays would be top notch.

The best headlights I've ever had were on a 2003 Mitsubishi galant of all cars. First real job and first new car, $13,000 off the lot.

Best headlights I've ever seen are on my moms 2015 Lexus. One reason she has stayed with Lexus for years and years because she has terrible night vision. I think I inherited that gene unfortunately, but the Ram lights are fine for me now.

My wife has halogen projectors on her car and the fog lights are brighter than them.lol

I finally put HIDs in them and it's way better but still not great.

x2

About a year ago, I had to break it to my father in law that his driving days were done.

He fell asleep 2 times in broad daylight, luckily with no repercussions.
The third time, he hit a curb, blew out a tire and came within inches of a concrete light pole, that would have most likely killed or seriously injured his wife.

Could have been horrible if there was pedestrians near the sidewalk where he eventually landed.

Getting old is a *****.
