Auto park, when the door is open

Is it posible to turn of the darn auto park gismo when I try to back up to my trailer, and leave my door open?
I`m most likely to explode one of these days

Not 100% sure, but I don't think there is a permanent disable option in a 2018. Try this temporary option below and see if it works. If so, you'll need to do this every time.. If someone is going to leave their truck in reverse and jump out of it at the boat launch ramp, that's on them. LOL Yes, a very annoying feature.

• Close the door: Shut the driver's door completely.
• Press the brake: Firmly press down on the foot brake pedal.
• Release the parking brake: Push the electronic parking brake switch (located near the lower dash/light switch) down to disengage it.
• Shift again: Move the rotary dial back into your desired gear (Drive or Reverse).
• Open the door: You can now open the door and move the truck at low speeds for that specific drive cycle.

I dont have this issue since my ram is not new enough however as irritating as it is. what you can do is click the latch shut on the door its self so it thinks the door is shut you can do this by hand or keep a screw driver in your door.

In a short answer no. Once programed into your truck it's an irreversible change.

My 14 has an active recall for this update, I had to lock my obd ii port to prevent the dealer from performing the update.. and I was just getting a front end alignment.

Told then to say out of the computer and under no circumstances touch anything since I'm custom tuned.

Finally couldn't get it through their head they couldn't plug in so had to put a lock on the port.

They were not happy

It's a bad habit to get into leaving a door open while your backing up, an innocent truck may get it's door damaged, mirror usage saves body panels.
Buy yourself a 3" seatbelt extension and leave it plugged into the driver's side, that will keep the truck from automatically going into park if a door is opened.

The seat belt being latched in works. You can also put a jumper wire in the seat belt sensor harness under the seat but you run the risk of forgetting to put your seatbelt on when driving.

Latch the seat belt behind you if it is only occasionally, or do like many of us and use a cheap extender. Easiest and cheapest fix. Can also be disabled with AlphaOBD.

I found a setting in AlfaOBD to disable the Auto-Park feature on my '21, but I believe it's not related to the same Auto-Park that occurs when the door is opened while in reverse.

Tests with it disabled didn't prevent the Auto-Park from happening under the above circumstances.
I believe the AlfaOBD option is for the Auto-Park that happens when you shut off the ignition while in any gear besides Park.

IIRC, the transmission did not Auto-Park with the AlfaOBD option set to off when the ignition was shut down, while in gear.

I had already purchased a seat-belt-extender for the Ram after having owned them for two other vehicles. They have several benefits, especially if you wear a Parka for a third of the year.

I also have a small flat bottle opener that plugs into the seatbelt socket. I used it with my Tundra for the passenger seat while travelling solo with a heavy cooler on the seat. The Tundra had a button to disable the passenger-side airbag, but not the seatbelt nag.

This what I have and use. Just keep in truck when I need, but do not normally back up looking out door, use mirrors and camera.
Now, backing up a lot with door open, that would be like in a field getting hay, than the clip is extremely useful of course.

Post #7: Extenders work, just leave plugged in 100% of time, I just plug in mine when specifically needed.

Hate when they mess with crap the vehicle is not there for. Had shop fix a tire or something and they did this 21 point inspection on an 04 Impala 3.8L. My cousin works in the front end shop and walked by on way to front office. He saw my car and told the mechanic he knew whose car that was and he is not gonna like that the new kid was under the hood. When I picked it up, it was missing soo bad I didn't go 20 feet and went back in and said WTH did y'all do to my car! They pulled all the plugs to check and broke the ceramic on one.
