My previous diesel took about 15 to 20 seconds for the coil (fuel heat up) before the truck was ready to start. Now on my 2022 3500 diesel it starts instantly. Is the fuel heated so quickly that no real delay is needed, whether or not the vehicle is plugged in on cold weather days? I've notice that on 30-degree days it starts just as fast as on the 50-degree days/ Is it normal. Thanks all

My 20 model has a wait to start notification with a count down in the evic that last for about 10-20 seconds based on the temps

I think so. I have the ECODiesel and a Cummins, they both start instantly in all weather albeit I don't recall any starts below 0F. I think the technology is there that allows this to happen. The ECO has glow plugs that are used when the engine first starts to promote combustion. The Cummins uses a grid heater that heats the incoming air charge to promote the combustion process.

I have to go watch YouTube videos of older diesel trucks, dozers, and the like to remember the good old days of long cranks, starting fluid, and smoke.

The only fuel heater is in the rear filter housing to help keep the fuel from gelling up. What enables diesels to start quickly nowadays is the high pressure fuel injection. I think the minimum fuel pressure is something like 5K psi and can go upwards of almost 30K psi and the injectors use multiple injections per compression cycle to burn better and control noise.

My 2021 3500 H.O. has a delay when needed. In the 20's is usually when I notice it kicking in.
