How does this work? Do I have to physically turn it on, or does it come on automatically under certain circumstances?

If it DOES come on automatically, is there a way of disabling this? I live in Florida, have never used rear window defrost, and am concerned with all the horror stories I hear about rear windows exploding under certain circumstances.

Thanks!

when it's cold out and i start my truck remotely, i notice it's ON. when it's warmer out, it doesn't come on. i'm sure somewhere in the settings there's a control for that, i just never bothered looking.

even the fan is blasting when i remote start in cold weather, and in warmer weather it's not on

It's under the comfort settings in the Uconnect settings. If they're on, it will turn on the heated seats, steering wheel, mirror and rear window defrosters below 40 degrees.

I've never heard of a rear window exploding for the defroster being left on though. It only stays on for about 15 minutes and it will turn off the rear window and mirror defrosters.

There is setting under Auto Comfort On, at/below 40°F per the truck temperature sensor the defrost and heated seats can be set to turn on when remote starting, all starts or disabled.
Not every truck has the Auto-On options for cooling but if the truck does it happens at 80°F. I think it's usually the truck with the Auto Climate control.
Unfortunately the temperature set point for turn on are not adjustable.

Wat was said good. U can turn on or have it set in Uconnect menu. Mirrors if heated and rear window if works will come on also as stated above.

I wish it wasn’t true, but it just happened to me last week. The guy at Safelite says they see alot of Rams during the winter. It was 18° out and happened 10 seconds after I remote started it.
I live in Canada where it gets down to -40 fairly often, and your only the 2nd guy i've ever heard of that's had issues with the back window in the cold.Next time i'm over at my buddies glass shop i'll have to ask him if he see's alot of Rams in the winter with blown out back windows.
