My 1998.5 2500 transmission gets hot towing in the mountains. Anyone have experience with cooler upgrades, second coolers and/or engine heat exchange bypass kits? I have an Edge Insight Monitor and can watch the temps closely, but still end up pulling over somewhere.
It's all about low vehicle speeds, long climbs and anytime the converter is not locked up. I have a heavy duty rebuild and large pan already. Should a second fan type cooler go before or after the stock cooler? The PCM computer needs to know actual transmission temperatures. Where is the temp probe located in the system?
