Alright i need some advice, i have an 01 1500 that i let both axles run dry and have consequently burned all the bearings and done damage to the gears. my question, seeing as to how i'll have to replace all those parts anyway, would now be a good time to change either stock gearing (9-1/4 3.55)to 4.10 or swap axles to heavier "better" such the full floating off a 2500. it has 305/75/r16 tires with no lift (yes i know). i have no price quotes for either, just more of a what is the communities opinion.

i just took my 97 from 3.55 to 4.10 and its nice on the freeway to have that heavy power to move the truck im also getting about 13-14mpg on my 4.10 on the freeway only in town still sucks. But im very happy with the gear upgrade. swapping to the 2500 axle was in my mind too but i don't off road and that's really the only perks of that axle is its strength. Bad part of the 2500 axle is the rims are 8 bolt patterns so means new tires and rims but just price it out and see whats best for you. but the 4.10 compared to the 3.55 is a nice upgrade.
