2010 1500 Laramie, had power/heated/vented/memory leather seats which I stole, and instead put basic ST/SLT cloth manual seats from a 2009 ST in. Now I have B0050, driver seatbelt sensor open circuit which for some reason is causing not just the seatbelt light, but also the airbag light? Not sure how this has anything to do with airbags but regardless. Here’s the code lookup/diagnostic procedure:
Here’s what I can’t wrap my head around, looking at the wiring diagram at that link, it’s an extremely simply circuit. If the circuit is open then that just means the seatbelt is unbuckled? And if shorted together then seatbelt is buckled? That’s literally how the sensor works… so I can’t comprehend how it’s even possible to throw either of the codes.
I have shorted together those 2 wires (sensor signal and ground) and left them open, basically bypassing the sensor, but nothing changes. The pinouts match for those wires, I’ll attach the 09 and 10 pinouts for that connector. I am completely baffled as per usual. Anyone have any ideas?
I did replace clockspring/steering wheel/airbag with used parts at the same time, but don’t see any relation there.
Oh yeah, and the other 2009 SLT I put the Laramie’s seats in, also has a constant seatbelt light on… but thankfully no airbag light. Go figure.
