IMO you should sand the plexi, to make a frosted look. It would also help diffuse the LED light across the whole thing.

Remember that LEDs are directional. One thing you can do to diffuse this is to lightly sand the end of each LED bulb. It will make more of a glow than a spotting. Just drill a hole in the grill for the wires.

I would get two little nuts/bolts and drill holes in the plexi where the old mounting tab holes were. Put the head of the bolt on the outside. Epoxy the ram head to the plexi, then run the bolts through the old mounting tab holes, and put the nuts on the other side (engine side) It would be a great mounting solution

gonna sand the plexi. thanks for the idea about sanding the leds. and yeah my dad was suggesting the same idea to mount it. just waiting on the led's now to finish it up. was thinking of spraying the plexi with nightshads too so it will look more stock when it's not lit up.

that thing is 15 for shipping?

anyway, I was thinking about painting it, but I just have a feeling it will really interfere with the glow of the plexi

You have some extra plexi, huh? when you get your materials in, light it up behind some plexi with the VHT and see how it looks. Might end up being alright. Also, VHT has a tendency to look purple if not thick.

didn't even look at the shipping on the relay,it was that or blinker relays. yeah have half a sheet left. got a small one for 4 bucks at lowes. not as bad now that i've already done it once so we'll see. wonder if tint film would work better. just don't wanna block out too much light.

You could do that or tint the plexi if you have a small scrap of tint. Maybe a tint shop would be willing to give you a piece of waste that small. I did that to my computer case. It looks solid, reflective black until I turn on the cathodes and then you can see through it and see the glow.

What percent tint did you use?

I'll have to go back and see if I can find it in the project log I created for that case build. That was like 6 years ago. I do remember that I bought my tint from Walmart and I think it was the second darkest one they had.
