I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CHSGFLU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just installed (not the easiest in the world).

If you go this route, make sure you have:
1. Hitch ball wrench
2. Small standard screwdriver if there is any dirt/mud in your trailer electrical plug backside

I am hopeful on the output. We will see tonight.....will post pics when I can.
Any mention of the lumen output? I like this as an option simply for the price, and as I normally have a hitch installed just to ward off parking lot idiots and traffic morons.

No mention, but it does have several LEDs on each side, so I will guess about the same as rwo of those 4 inch single row bars....the ones from aisle 4 at Autozone...we shall see.

Interested to see the results! I don't need laser beams back there, just a bit more directed for this camera so it's a bit clearer.

I would say it works well. And for $40, if you have a ball on your truck most of the time anyway, this is a great deal.b22addecb60c072dc3f5923d66abd0ee.jpg451b7071069533a06b75d4b148d56ec4.jpge1a5f66c10dca746432ef40fd87c29f1.jpg195da2791ff7ad0ed8ac8ed369a881bc.jpgda3889526fc49bc0ec6f39b354789843.jpgc91e26f1a58b2c335a6e4b98af18203f.jpgdd88d69fd85bbfbd53dddcd851d196ab.jpg34c7f6a086a9f997861a0b25a1b697e2.jpg0a9af87527450077821d307f8f540f35.jpg

Looks great, for me not practical as I do not leave hitch/ball on truck. Looks like a 60" strip for me and/or pods/or license plate strip...

Looks Good! Heck I think that inline plug they use is worth it alone, pretty slick and I can always use that down the road for some better bumper lights without chopping into the stock harness!

Agreed, the Reese inline "Y" is generally $30-ish by itself....

So I installed some LEDs from superbrightleds.com that are 550 lumen each. They made a big difference. I also mounted some LED cubes under the rear but those are wired into the cargo lights. I like to be able to turn them on as needed and can leave them on when hitching up in the dark. They're also great "*******" lights (for people behind me who don't how how to turn off their high beams).

What wires and where did you tap into the cargo lights? I have everything ready to install but dont know where to find the cargo light wires...

So on the driver's side I removed the plastic door sill cover on the floor and there's a bunch of wires in there. One of them is for the cargo light (I don't remember the color). I tapped it and ran it under the hood to a relay. Off the relay I ran 14G wire to the rear to power the lights.

The wire color was White with a Tan stripe under the driver front or rear door. I tied into that and used my licence plate light ground wire to tie into for ground. Works like a charm!

tater - i like that set up it looks nice and bright, that's something i need to consider on doing

I am still using it daily. It does not interfere with my trailer in the least, makes a good step (by design) even for my fat-a$$ (300+ lbs), and is durable (ran it into the trailer tongue once)...

I just did this a month or so ago. Superbrightled pods (small like 1.75”) with a single 10w chip, almost 180* beam pattern and about 900lumens each. Tucked in tight to the hitch. I ran an opt7 triple tailgate bar but hated the yellow turn signals. I also run upgraded leds in the reverse lights. This is done with the curt adapter for the hitch.

I ran some 30* led mod pods (super mini cubes) and they were bright but the beam was too narrow for stuff right about the back of the truck. Also the tight beam washed out the backup camera. So I wanted a wider beam pattern to illuminate everything bs more of a spot pattern.

It worked out well, lifetime warranty and quality components. I tested these and they are accurately rated. With the curt adapter I have no issues with the truck thinking a trailer was hooked up from the current draw, park sensors work as normal and it does not go into tow mode.

What degree pod did you go with? 10, 30, 60, 120? Any issues since the install?

120* for backup. No issues at all actually. I was using easy taps which would loose connection every couple of months with lots of driving so I pulled it and soldered good connections to the hitch T harness so it wouldn’t be a problem anymore. The led pods come with nice detusch style weather tight connectors and pigtails and they are very nice for the price.
