Is this a bad idea? I need a truck cap for a 5 day trip, about 6000km. I already own this one from my last truck. I've checked kijiji and called around and there's no used ones anywhere, I really don't want to pay the cost of a new one for just 5 days of use.
I'm thinking 6 clamps to secure it to the truck and a piece of plywood across the gap attached to the cap on both sides.
I know its not perfect, more concerned about whether it's safe or not.
Thanks, Brad

My only concern is that the colors don't match

Lol. I know. It looks pretty rugged. I will keep looking for a used one, but just might have to go with this one.

If you do not end up on here, you will end up on some forum......

On a safety note, at highway speeds can buffeting from underneath cause failure of the fiberglass or whatever space age material it is made of?

don't forget the rubber padded tape when instilling. i have no clue as to it bing safe or not. i would ask a cap dealer. just a though, have you considered trading in the cap? might not be nearly as expensive as it sounds.
