Have been hunting for a hard folding tonneau since I bought the truck but always felt $800+ could be better spent elsewhere. I have mentioned this in multiple posts on here that I know I didnt NEED one but I WANTED one.
I have checked Amazon for used deals, Offer Up and Craigslist almost every single day for the past four months with no luck. I did find an MX2 a few months back for $320 but it was 3 hours away and we had family coming into town the same day I needed to go and it just didnt work out.
However yesterday I was going through my daily search on the sites and came across a BAKFlip Fibermax for $250 and was able to haggle down to a price I did not think would be accepted. Once it was, I thought, man this thing has to be in BAD shape to be sold that low.
Drove a little over an hour north to get it last night and it definitely looked like it needed some TLC but the frame work and main rubber components were all still nice. I ran to Lowes and got some new elevator bolts, washers, rubber washers, etc and I will need to get a small piece of weatherstripping but that all cost me a little under $5 so definitely not a bad investment. The BAKFlip decal was cracking so I took it off and will need to find another but honestly who cares haha.
I got a $900 tonneau for a fraction of the cost and I couldnt be happier. Point of the story is, always keep lookin!
