Sorry in advance if this has already been discussed, but I met a new power wagon owner and don’t really do a lot of towing. But, I do have a small boat, utility trailer, and tow something for friends once in a while. Because of the height of the rear end of the power wagons, I am assuming that I need an adjustable height hitch? Does anyone out there have any suggestions or ideas as to which hitch is the most versatile?

I personally like the Anderson (Andersen) adjustable drop hitch. Billet aluminum, and although a bit pricey, $200+!, it is light, durable and has never let me down.

If you haven’t needed the adjustment feature with previous tow vehicles I don’t know that you’d need to invest in that now. You could just get a drop hitch of the appropriate dimension to get the ball to the correct height.

The adjustable ones are nice if your trailers are atypical or unknown.

I have a whole collection of different ball mounts of various sizes I’ve collected over the years. One of them is similar to the one in this link if you just need something light duty.

I’ve the same as Trailmaker. I made Ram throw it in on my deal and it does a great job. Best hitch I’ve owned and love I can rotate between 2 5/16 and 2 as I have trailers with both. I can have my saltwater boat level when I am towing and get my aluminum river boat near level.

I have a Weigh Safe 10" drop for the 2.5" receiver. It has the option for either a 2" or 2 5/16" ball that interchanges. You actually remove whatever size ball is on it and put the different size as needed. Went that route because I didn't want the unused ball size hanging down any further for clearance reasons. I also like that the adjustable ball mount comes with a locking pin to prevent somebody from walking by and grabbing it. Also pent a few dollars to get a locking hitch pin (where hitch goes into the truck receiver) that has a matching key. This aren't cheap and didn't want to worry about somebody swiping the hitch. My bigger trailer needs a 6" drop and little trailer 8" drop, but went ahead and got the 10" drop version for more flexibility if I ever run across another trailer with a lower tongue, or put bigger tires on the truck.
