So I may have an addiction for power or buying parts either way I've still got to put on my headers, 4.56's, and 2800 stall. Well I have a feeling there's gonna be some broken bolts in the heads from the old manifold bolts that I don't want to deal with(just another excuse to get new heads when I know I could get the broken bolts out one way or another haha) so I'm thinking about just going ahead and getting heads.
Problem is I don't know if certain ones need custom tuning or how much I can safely mill them, if I can get my pushrods shortened or if I have to get new ones, or if I can get the heads with just valves since everything in my heads are brand new except rocker arms and valves. Jay Greene asked if I was planning on getting or milling my heads before he made the pushrods but said it would be a little noisy if he did make them for milled heads and I didn't want that. Any noises freak me out even my exhaust leak scares me sometimes haha

I have Big Valve heads that were done by GTP in Houston. But there are a lot of options. HHP, Inertia Performance, Arrington, Modern Muscle. Just to name a few. I believe 0.03 is the max they can be milled. And you will need custom length push rods. Jay ordered them from Trend.
Anything other than a stock replacement will need a tune adjustment.

^^Pretty much summed up the basics. All head work will require some adjustment of the tune and there's plenty of the ported pre-Eagle heads for sale on places like LXF that can be had at a decent price. Ported and/or big valve heads are a nice upgrade and if yo want to take it further you can actually bolt on the Eagle heads which flow more in stock form than the ported pre-Eagle heads but there's more involved with the swap and you'll have a tidy 11:1 compression ratio if you don't run a thicker head gasket.

I'd like to just stick with my superchips tune of anything so I can keep my rev limiter and speed limiter. Is that a good enough tune for heads or would I need custom tuning. What would be the problem if I didn't tune? Stalling, running lean or rich, or something like detonation
