With technology advancing so rapidly I'm wondering if anyone has found a OBD scanner that reads everything on our Ram trucks? I just want to buy the best available that does more than just engine codes.

On e you have the MX+ you could buy AlfaOBD also, there is lots of diagnostic/testing abilities along with configuration and setting changes.

^^^This^^^, but to be the best you must buy AlfaOBD or the OBDmx+ is only another generic scanner. AlfaOBD is what makes it the best. It gives you access to all of the modules in our rams and all other Chrysler Dodge vehicles. You can modify settings like change the tire pressure range if you buy better tires. I was able to replace all bulbs from incandescent to LED and set it to read led values to determine bulb out failures. which my dealer claimed they couldn't do. The software is around 50 bucks.

Just bought my 2025 Rebel X w/I6 motor. Which is the best OBD scanner? Still OBDLink MX+ or the Alpha OBD?

No. The 2025 has both a secure gateway AND uses the new Atlantis High CAN architecture. The gateway locks out the Obd Link and AlfaOBD. The 2025+ Atlantis CAN setup, unless i'm mistaken, has no module to bypass. The gateway can no longer be bypassed with a cable or plug-in module, so, AlfaOBD is out.

with a scan tool, to do anything more than basic code reading you'll need a FCA AutoAuth subscription and a scan tool that is on the AutoAuth authorized scan tool list.

My AutoAuth account runs about $60 a year. Recently price increased form 50$ that I paid last year.

I have 2 scan tools on my AutoAuth accnt. An Innova 7111 and a ThinkScan 689BT. Between the 2, I prefer the ThinkScan.

Most of the bigger, more popular brands, like Autel, Launch, Topdon etc. are authorized, but double check before you buy one. And make sure you know what your potential scan tool brand will charge for updates.
