Hey guys, I’m just curious but does anybody in the aftermarket make a much better blower motor fan resistor that blows more air through the air vents? I’ve had my truck since brand new but it just never seemed like it really blew a whole lot of air out of the air vents. And yes, my truck does have a replaceable cabin filter and yes, I do try to replace that filter every year to every two years whether it really needs it or not so I don’t think the lack of airflow is because of that.

Thanks.

Not that I have ever seen. Ram air flow (velocity) just sucks compared to other vehicles I have owned, don't think there is much you can do about it. I've owned several Ram HD trucks and they have all been the same.

Yeah, you know, come to think of it, even though I don’t doubt what you said at all, I’m kind of wondering now if my problem might be due to the fact that I put one of those aftermarket cabin filters in there that’s supposed to filter a lot better than the stock one does so I think here in the neat future when I go to replace my cabin air filter, I may just have to go back to the plain factory Mopar filter that won’t be as restricting….

I ended up removing my OEM filter all together and just used a custom made wire mesh filter (made it from a stove top vent filter) just to stop the big stuff from passing through but still allowing the best air flow. Not super dusty here so wasn't worried so much about small dust particles and getting the air flowing in the Georgia heat was more important to me.

Even though that still sounds like a pretty good idea, I would still worry about small particles going through that and eventually plugging up the evaporator to where at that point, you’d have to pull the blower motor out and try to stick something in there to vacuum all of that stuff off the front of it…

So do these trucks that have the automatic climate control just not have the typical traditional replaceable fan motor resistor?

This is interesting I have the 24 and first thing I did was install a new fancy carbon cabin air filter. It had the little beads and was a tighter fit. It took about 3 months of Florida HOT to wonder why it would not blow very hard. I replaced it with a regular carbon filter and it was night and day difference. I would agree the climate control does not ramp up as other vehicles I've owned. I also plan on having it checked at the next interval. This is why these forums are awesome, I thought I was crazy at first.

Yeah, you know, come to think of it, after looking back through my maintenance records, it’s been almost a year and a half from the last time I changed my cabin air filter and I know for a fact that I used one of those aftermarket ones that filters better so who knows, that might be the core problem of why my airflow doesn’t seem to be very strong…

Maybe pull the filter out and see if the HVAC blows harder.
I use this in my '17 and the fan blows as well as any vehicle I've owned. (I replace every 24 months.)
I’ll have to look into that. This weekend I’m gonna replace my cabin filter with one that I already have which I think is just like the one that’s in there now and then next year around late spring when it starts getting 9000° around here, the Mopar cabin air filter I just ordered will replace that one.

On "High" setting the fan motor will run as hard as being wired directly to battery power. Poor flow is either a restriction, or poor design, which Mopar HVAC is infamous for. I will say my 2024 3500 works much better than my prior Dodges/Rams, especially my 2019 3500, which was pretty awful.

Well, y’all, the filter I was using is a Fram TrueAir CV11671 that I think I got from Walmart but stay the hell away from the MicroGuard 3705HP one that I think came from O’Reillys.

That was the one that I was talking about that I had bought a long time ago and I guess I just didn’t realize how thick this thing is and when I put it in the slot where the filter goes, being that it’s brand spanking new, it was a lot more restrictive and slowed my air flow down tremendously even over the fram filter that I had in there for supposedly a year and a half….

I usually keep my cabin air filter for years by carefully vacuuming it periodically with a shop Vac.

I don't get the same life out of the air intake filter, but I stretch out its life a bit longer.

Same for the chainsaw and lawn tractor.

Well guys, I think I’m done with those aftermarket cabin air filters that focus more on filtration and all that carbon stuff because I just put one of those Wix 24579 filters in there and, wow. It’s been a long time since I’ve used another one of the Mopar OEM filters so I can’t really remember how it was but this Wix one sure feels like it puts out a whole lot more air than even that Fram TrueAir filter did when it was brand new and then, as I was on my way home, I didn’t even realize the fan speed was on number 6; when I reached over and manually turned it all the way up to 7, I was like, whoa!!….lol.

Wish I would’ve done this at the start of the summer….lol.

Dam!!!...I have never changed a filter on a chainsaw.my last chainsaw was like 20 years old..lol.
My ZTR mower(s c a g) has around 460hrs on it...has a double filter cylindrical filters one inside of the other and i check that every 5-6 cuts, I kid you not...both look brand new still.
Cant say the same for the truck or the cabin filter though:oops:
I've also replaced that little resistor thing(I guess it's called) for the blower twice.

I did a test years ago on CAF air flow using a cheap air flow meter GM 816
I listed results w/dirty CAF New CAF and No CAF

I am retired and get board a lot lol

A good way to test any brand CAF

I was thinking that could be a idea.
On my truck, it doesn’t have a filter, and I never have the blower very hi, just whatever the auto sets it to .
It sits in the garage all the time, so dirt is not a problem.

A real good filter will restrict the air flow more then most cheap paper filters
I really notice it on the house furnace.

I got some cheap Amazon filters and batteries for a couple of my Dyson vacuums and they really suck more with the thin cheap Chinese? Filters.
BTW, the no name batteries seem quite good
Sorry I am derailed again .
