Has anyone tried to adjust the c-clip higher on the 5100 struts while they are on truck? Mine are at 2.1 and I would like to go to 2.8 and save my self some work.

I think the only way you could accomplish this would be to put spring compressors on it while it’s on the truck. Doesn’t seem that safe but to me that seems to be the only way you could do it to take the load off that retaining ring.

Time it takes to even try to do this if you don't get hurt in the process you could have them off the truck and in your hand . It's not a time consuming job at all. Personally I would not try it.

Well, regardless if you take them off the truck or not you have to compress the springs. So, I guess if you are using the cheap/manual type spring compressors and you can safely get them over the springs while on the truck, then yea I suppose you could.

Nope. Not merely a kinda nope, full nope.

Taking them off isn't the hard part, and you need a fresh alignment after changing ride height anyway so don't even worry about where the alignment cams end up.

Just don’t do it. Spend the extra 15 minutes per side taking them off. Then go get an alignment.

There isn't enough room to fit the spring compressors on the springs and compress the spring enough to move it. Too much of the spring is up where you can't get on it.

You are definitely correct, couldn’t get spring compressors safely in position
