Does anyone know if the bilstein 5100’s for a 2018 will work on a 2020 2500? I accidentally ordered the 2018 ones by mistake for the rear. Just needing to know if I will have to send them back or not.

If they are the 2018 2500 version I don’t see why they wouldn’t work. Both trucks are nearly identical. Best bet is find out the length of them and the length of the ones for your truck and see if they’re the same. Are they the same mounting style?

It looks like they are the same mounting style. That’s what I thought as well as it should be almost the same thing. Thanks

Ok guys, one more question for you all. Would it hurt anything to have 5100’s on the front and then put 4600’s on the rear? They say they are pretty much identical, but they are valves differently.

No harm, the 4600 are basically OEM so that's not really an upgrade. 4600s also aren't any longer so don't plan on them if you're lifted or going to lift anytime soon. If you don't already have the 4600s it's probably worth the extra few bucks for the 5100s, IMO.

They don’t make 5100’s for my truck, it has the air ride suspension. Also the only lifting I’ll do would be at most 2 inches in the front. Which is why I’m thinking of keeping them and putting them on the front so all I’ll have to do them is just get the coils.

Well that's dumb. Fox's site doesn't specify air ride for the 2.0s, maybe @Nick@GotExhaust might know a Fox or slight upgrade from the 4600 option for the air ride 2500.

Yeah, I’ve called every manufacture I can think of. Unless you buy a Carly kit or something similar, I only have the option of the 4600’s. At this point I have to go with the website I got them from as I have all four shocks now and if I send them back I either have to choose credit or lose out on$100 in shipping and restocking fees. Unless I can sell them to someone.

Well since that is odd, as for the original question, there shouldn't be any mismatch using the 4600 in the rear.

I would disagree, I put 4600s on my truck and they are stiffer than stock, especially the front shocks. The factory front shocks brand new are very soft. The rears were noticeably different but closer to the 4600s, but less stiff than 5100s, to me it's a half way point.

The only reason to do 5100s in my opinion is for the increased length option or if you use your truck like a truck a lot. I know I dont I mostly just daily drive in mine.

I use mine a lot during the spring and summer towing a #9,000 camper. Also right now the 4600’s are my only upgrade option for the rear of my truck as it has the air ride suspension in the rear.

I did find a note on Thuren's website saying that there is a 5100 and a Fox shock that will work with an airbag spacer in the rear, if you wanted to look in to that at some point.

I saw that too, I’m not wanting to get into lifting the rear. I appreciate the help though.

Have you put them on 2020 with air ride suspension before?
