Black chrome look with stock wheels?

Hi All,

I've been searching around for some info on options to enhance my stock wheels. I have the 20 inch painted aluminum wheels with 5 spokes-

I am looking for a cheap solution to give them a custom look, and was wondering if this was feasible: remove the existing paint/clear coat, polish the aluminum underneath, then spray with Duplicolor's shadow black chrome effect.

Does this sound like something that could be done? Any thoughts from anyone doing something similar would be much appreciated.

The Shadow kit is a good kit, however you'd be doing it on a raw surface and not chromed surface, so I am not sure how it would really turn out...I dont know of anybody who has used it on bare metal. The chrome finish is what is needed for the shadow to work properly.

Look for a set of chrome clads to trade with. If someone wants to powdercoat, they need your wheels, and you need theirs.

I wasn't impressed with the Shadow paint...Did it on a few emblems before trying it on my grill and I decided against it...after being outside for a few weeks in the sun and stuff it seemed to get a purple kind of tint to it...No thanks...Maybe you will have better luck...I followed all instructions

Thanks for the input about the shadow spray; I don't think I'll go that route.
