Loosing coolant, never found a leak. No coolant in the oil (no milkshake). Haven't seen oil in coolant. Strange gurgling sound from heater core area. TODAY she overheats and I see coolant on the ground RR at rear of engine. Hissing and steam from RR of engine. Too hot to open cooling system. I'll do that tomorrow.

Is it possible to blow a head gasket that leaks externally and not internally?

Could this just be the heater hoses?

Also, consider checking your exhaust for the sweet smell or actual coolant finding its way out of the tailpipe.

You can also get an exhaust gas test kit for the rig and that will quickly tell you. I also hope as @J-mac stated that you have a heater hose with an attitude problem.

Try pressuring the system to help look for leaks. You can borrow/rent the tool from AutoZone or OReilly.

Hey,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this, we certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you end up addressing this with your local dealer, please let us know via PM. We'd be more than happy to provide you with an additional layer of assistance for that process.

It IS possible to have the head gasket leak externally.. happened to me. However it was RF of the motor and not near as bad a leak as your leak sounds. I bet yours is a hose.

Well testing showed a blown head gasket. Couldn't afford the repairs so I sold the truck as is. Went to a nearby town and picked up a 2017 Ram 1500 Express with 130600 miles pretty reasonable. Blown head gasket saga on the 2010 is closed. Thanks for the advise from all.

Well, it is a head gasket, so that means it could be heads, as in head warped from temperature cooling differences between heads and block, possibly high pressure from improper positive crank case ventilation. You have an interval pcv on that? Have any over heating? It is possible the bolts werent torqued correctly. isnt that under warranty anyhow?

It is under warranty...Will be out a full month or more waiting for the repair and they don't provide loaners. I don't know what an internal pcv is.

Yes...just have to wait for several weeks to get it back. Frustrating when you are making payments on a truck you can't drive. Lots of fish having some extended lives as well.

Well some vehicles just have that happen. My hemi lost its passenger side head gasket at 58k miles. As for your pentastar, I don't think it's a common issue in most vehicles, but a troubling number of pacifica minivans with that engine are blowing their rear head gaskets and cracking blocks.

Weren't Dodge Neons notorious for blown head gaskets? C'mon MOPAR, get it together.
