After a long day at work I was not paying attention when pulling into my driveway. There’s a fence that runs along side of it and like an idiot I cut in too sharp and knocked the hell out of the corner post. Does anyone have an idea of what I can expect money-wise for body/paint repair work?

That’s around what I was thinking. I’m pretty sure they can pull that out and fix up the paint. I’m in central Tx but $2-3k I think would be reasonable. I have Maxcare warranty so I guess I’ll need to go to one of the 3 approved body shops here just to keep that from biting me later.

They most likely will not pull it out and body work it. The metal is too thin and it’s not worth their time. It’s going to be a new bedside and spray the door doesn’t look bad in the pictures

6-7k my guess, I had similar damage and those dented cab corners charged a lot of shop hours and new metal required on bed. I think you got 1.5k just in paint and paint prep

Damn, I sure hope it’s not that much. I’m not planning on filing an insurance claim but $6-7k is too high not to.

You can buy the panel for a few hundred, I believe it bolts on. Color matching the paint is the trick. Rear won't be noticeable if it is off, but where rear of cab meets bed it will if not done by a skilled paint specialist. It can be done, but needs a trained person to do it. They can't just use factory specs bit need to adjust for sun exposure. Sorry that happened, good luck.

I had similar damage a few years ago on my Silverado from a yellow parking lot pole on the same side....because of the body lines in the bed and metal creasing damage and there are stiffners behind the bed fender. The shop found a donor bed to cut up and patch in the metal.
As already mentioned, that metal is thin. I suppose it could hammered out and bondo but those lines won't be right.

Thanks for the input. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that hammer/bondo is an option. Not too concerned about it looking perfect or anything, especially for 7 grand!

Damn. What kind of fence do you have? Lol... I'm curious.

The right shop will get the bedside panel for 500, a new fender flare for 100 maybe. Paint and prep on white, 800 bucks tops. Then the door is another 800 just because the shop will have to blend it up, and to do the dent removal they can get a good paintless guy in. I'm gonna go between 2.5-3.2k

I hope you’re right! The fence is one of those white plastic ones. I was so tired I just figured I scraped it a little and it would give if I kept going. Aaannndddd I was wrong lol

Holy crap lol... I'm not sure to be impressed with the white plastic, or disappointed in the integrity of the sheet metal on the panels.

I have a similar situation it's just not nearly as damaged looking as yours. Mind are smaller dents, but the same result on what they would do to fix it right.

A dealership will be more expensive, but sometimes they get backed up on work like this and out source to have smaller shops do the work. You can always get a quote at a dealership to just build some report, and then ask if they know other shops that might cost less. Then visit those shops and get an idea of what level of quality they do and their prices. Definitely shop around and ask every shop what they would do and why. You'll be spending a lot, so it's worth getting the place you're most comfortable with.

Insurance would also cover this if you wanted to go that route, they may give you a really high quote of 4,000 and you can get it done for less and have a little left over for your pockets.
