Hey everyone - I have a 2014 Ram and starting about a month ago I've been getting the "brake light out" indicator when starting the vehicle with the indication it is my passenger side brake light. I have checked the light (it works) tried a new bulb, and used dielectric grease on all the connections but still get the message at start-up. In trying to find a solution on-line I've heard it can be a problem after washing the truck in cold weather (I'm in MN so this is a regular occurrence) and on this forum have seen a thread that it was actually a problem with the center (3rd) tail light.

I haven't had a chance yet to check the center light as I have a topper installed and it will be a bit of a chore to remove the topper so I thought I'd see if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks!

I believe the EVIC showing the rear pass taillight is just a default picture and does not show actual light out. Definitely check the 3rd brake light. Water got in mine and made a hole in the bulb at 3,000 miles on my 2014. I ripped out the old gasket and put a better one on. Heck, I'd recommend everyone do that because it seems like it's bound to happen anyway.

I would definitely check your 3rd brake light especially since you wouldn't had noticed with the cab on. Like Rick said, the passenger rear out is the default setting. It does not actually tell you which bulb is out, only that one of them is out. If your 3rd brake light is out, then I would also check to make sure it is not leaking at this point. It's unfortunately very common that they leak and blow the bulb.

Absolutely correct. Perfect responses on both counts above.

EXACT same scenario happened to me and my '13 Power Wagon first time I squeezed it through an automated high pressure spray car wash.

Same failure, same warning, same cure.
