For some reason, I get a "dinging" notification and the "parking light out" note shown in the picture when the headlights are on and I hit the brakes. The problem is that all of the parking light bulbs, along with every other bulb, work just fine. I thought perhaps I replaced an incandescent bulb with an LED, and the computer does not register the lower current draw so it thinks the incandescent is not working. A swell theory, but all the bulbs are incandescent.

Any suggestions?

Check your 3rd brake light on the top of the cab.

Great idea, since it is obstructed. However it is working.

The third brake light comes on with the other brake lights, and the cargo lights come on with a button on the dashboard. Still puzzled....

If you find no joy after checking the above mirror lights, it might be time to break out a digital multimeter.

Walmart of Harbour Freight have them for <$10, if you don't have one.

Remove the taillights and inspect the bulb socket. If they look clean and corrosion-free, measure and compare the ohm value on the ground side.

In other words, find a good ground like at the trailer connector and measure the ohm value of the ground connection at the socket.

Then measure the 12VDC connection at the light socket with the brake engaged.
Wedge something between the seat and brake pedal if you're solo.
Do both sides look similar?

If this doesn't show any irregularities, try the same tests while gently moving the wires behind the socket. You may require an assistant or a set of alligator clips for the DMM test leads.

This happens on my 04 sometimes. Often it’s a bulb thats not burned out yet but does have a bad filament. I noticed after hitting bumps it pops mess. Had one side marker on front that was just not plugged in tight also

Have you ensured that all bulbs are seated correctly?

Most likely a rusted ground connection in tail lights. This is an ages old issue.

Depending on the setup. My 2017 Sport is all LED lighting. There are some goofy little bulbs that are in the outboard side of the tail lens also in the outboard side of the headlight bezel, just a small bulb like the old peanut bulbs
