Hey guys!

I have a 2019 Ram Limited that came off the dealer lot with a few with issues.
One being my mirrors wouldn't tilt down while in reverse (the option was there and not toggleable to "on"), the hood would vibrate at high speeds (60mph+) and the brakes are squealing nearly every time I brake.

The service department was able to fix the mirror issue. They said that a sales code didn't get installed like it should have, and they were able to fix the hood issue too (I haven't had the chance to test if it actually fixed it yet).

My main problem now is the brakes.

The maintenance report states that they performed a break in procedure to get the squealing to stop. They were able to stop it and called me. I drove it home and about 5 minutes into the drive, I noticed the brakes squealing again. It was just as bad as before. I called the service department and spoke to the manager. He basically said that all new vehicles did this and that since it was under 500 miles there was nothing more he could do. I called him out on it, having owned 2 NEW Rams in the past, and never having this issue.
He said FCA won't allow his techs to do any more than what they've already done, and that the brakes will stop squealing eventually. This is garbage because he said that the rotors were rusty or had debris just from normal driving and that's why they're doing this. It hasn't rained and they haven't been wet since I took possession of the vehicle, and you can literally take a finger to the rotors and pull it off fairly clean.

Needless to say, I'm frustrated. I know that there are a few of you guys that have this same issue. I would love to have a thread where people state the following:

1) Trim level (maybe there's a correlation)
2) Mileage
3) Service you've had performed to fix the issue
4) What situations your brakes squeal (ie every stop, light braking, hard braking etc)

I feel like if we can gather enough data then we can get FCA to do something.

Just as an aside, I have opened a case with FCA if the issue wasn't fixed today. They said that they haven't had any reports of squealing brakes with the new 2019 Ram and to let them know if the issue persists. I'll be following up with them after this post.

Edit1: The FCA rep told me to take it to a different dealer for a second opinion, and then get back to them with the results. I have an appointment on the 29th to have them look at the issue. I asked the FCA rep if they had heard anything directly from customers about squealing brakes, and the FCA rep said he's never heard of it and there haven't been any reports. I'm guessing that no matter what he's heard, he can't speak for FCA regarding mechanical issues unless it's been made public.

I can't believe they haven't heard of it. The last 4 Mopar's I've had have all had squealing brakes. I never had them looked at, just figured it was either brake pad content or rotor hardness or lack there of. My brakes work fine, it just that 1 or 2 second squeal when applied lightly.

Looks like you could use some help from the great people, @ramcares. They will help get this sorted. Good luck!

That's the thing, we're on 3 Rams, and 1 Challenger, and the two Rams and the Challenger didn't have this issue. They were all purchased new.

Weird you mentioned this OP.
I just mentioned this about my 2016 Ram Sport 4X4, rcsb in another thread. I have less then 13,500 miles and they've been squealing since about 13k. Not too happy about it.
I had an '05 Ram Daytona 4X4 in GoMango that didn't have any issue. So far, this truck has 3. The 2 recalls and now the brakes.

The way I see it, and I could be totally wrong but I think it's a compromise between quietness and performance. I had a motorcycle one time that brakes worked good when dry but when riding in the rain I basically had no brakes. Changed brake pads to different compound and for the first mile or so every ride they would squeal like hell, almost like metal to metal. Other than the squeal they worked great and worked great no matter how much rain I rode in.

As far as I know, the brakes aren’t any different than my 2016 Laramie, so that rules that out. Performance should be the same.

Pretty sure the 14.9" brakes are new. Once I get back to Florida I'm going to see what aftermarket brake companies have pads available for the 2019 Ram. Corvettes are well known for brake squealing. GM will not fix it. Most guys just swap pads, as I did in my previous Corvettes. If I started to get brake squealing, I'll swap pads and be done with it. I'll just need to track down some pads. I won't waste my time with the dealer.

All I know is that my brakes have been squealing since I first picked this truck up. Have been back twice only to be told the famous “ could not replicate “ bull. If Ram is listening, QUIET these darn brakes !!!!!!,

My dealer has me drive the tech to replicate with them. You want to try that.

Hi DeusUrsus,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a tough time with your Ram truck! Please send us a PM with your VIN and mileage so that I can take a look at your case to see if there is any update I can provide!

Hi, just following up to see if this is resolved...

I am having the same issue 2017 RAM 1500. Bought it in 2017 and started squealing at 6k. I am told that it will go away after they inspected it. Now at 33k, still doing it. In between every oil change, they kept saying nothing much they can do since there is no recall. I brought it in recently and this time I paid the diagnostic check. Given the same response that the rotors and pads are great. However, the issue is still there. I am really getting very very frustrated. It is so embarrassing to stop at the light when it squeals.
