Brake time...

So it was time to replace the pads and rotors. Since I am time challenged I decided to check to see how much it was going to be at three different locations. $650 at the dealer where I bought the truck, $650 at a shop in Terrell and fire stone came in at a whopping 900. So off I went to O’Reilly’s and $221 later and an afternoon of work and paint yielded a new look with all new brake components. Need to get new lugnuts now since the ones I have lost their gloss and are longer than the McGard locks.

it was actually much easier than expected. Had to hammer a bit on all four rotors but they came out fairly easily. The hardest thing, and it wasn’t too awfully hard, was juggling the front calipers on over the loosely fitting pads.

I painted the caliper brackets and the center of all the rotors with high heat barbecue black paint. The calipers were shot in rust oleum farm implement international red. Not sure how long they will last since it’s not basically a super high heat paint.

It definitely feels good especially since the savings will pay for most of the new set of tires which is next on the list!

A1 auto on YouTube is what I used for the fronts and for the rear brakes Revit Auto's video was the best.

I also used ChrisFix for the bleeding portion. He does a good job at explaining for those of us that are beginners.

Found this one for the back, pretty good. Really helps explain how to get that rotor off from the e brake pads.
