I have a 2005 St. Cab hemi 5.7 and I'm wondering if there is a brake upgrade that doesnt cost a fortune ? larger rotors, better rotors and pads, etc ?
Can larger rotors be used without changing calipers ? I tend to brake late, a habit which came from riding motocross for yrs. and it would be nice to have a little more power, especially up front.

The Exterior section is fine, as it's not really and engine performance type topic.

There are cheaper and more expensive kits. I believe th cheapest brake upgrade is about $1500 for just the fronts. I'll find you a link here in a few.

thanks !! what kind of cost do you think I am looking at to swap to aftermarket rotors and pads ? Don't really want to get into calipers. Too much $$$$ I was looking at ebc and baer rotors. maybe ebc pads ? Don't seem to be real expensive

I've heard really good things about brakemotive rigors and pads. Pretty cheap on eBay too

Find a wrecked SRT-10 and get the front brakes/spindles and throw the Dana 60 in the rear (might not be so cheap but definitely worth it).

best thing you could do is swap the brakes from a cummins truck. Talk to weedahoe or find his install thread. Better then any kit you could get.

Weed didn't swap brakes, he did away with the vacuum booster for the power brakes and installed the hydroboost from a diesel truck. The brakes themselves are the stock size and style. This increases clamping force, but not the surface area to clamp.

I went with the EBC drilled and slotted rotors with the green stuff pads. The braking performance is way better than stock. The only down side to this is that they will squeak like crazy.

I just did a drilled and slotted rotor, with ceramic pads upgrade on my buddies 05 z71. It was a night and day difference. It was cheap and was well worth it.
I plan to do it in the future.

It aint easy.... bein' Easy ;)

Alright so it looks like drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads may be the way I'm gonna go. Is there enough of an improvement over stock to be worth the extra money ? Is there a best/better brand of rotor to go with ? ebc, baer, etc.......there seems to be quite a few choices in rotors

Did a lot of research online. Think I'm gonna go with EBC ultimax slotted rotors and yellowstuff pads on the front for now. Prob do the rears later. Parts cost for that is 381.36. Apparently the yellow pads make a bit more dust but bite the rotors like crazy
