I wanted to share my break-in information with others. Differences between owners may be more about variables we cannot control but I had positive results with this method.

In the first 1000 miles I never went over 3/4 throttle. I left the factory oil in for 2500-3000 miles. I varied the throttle and speed a lot during this time but rarely went over 3/4 throttle and tried to avoid extended interstate driving. I took it very easy when towing. Somewhere around the 2500-3000 mark I changed to Amsoil 0w40 and their EA filter. From there every once in a while I would let it eat wide open from a highway rolling speed for a handful of seconds, then let her coast back down. Otherwise I started driving it normal and towing normal.

No ticking, no smoke and ZERO oil burn. I just returned from hauling 10,000-12,000 lbs from MO to CO and back. I worked her hard. Exact same point on the dipstick when I got home. She purrs like a kitten. Everyone has their own break-in procedures and thoughts behind it. Just wanted to share my results.

while none of what you did is needed, recommended, or required, it's important to take care of your expensive tools! Kudos

i took it to the rodeo day one.

cars, boats, motorcycles,atvs..... ive always changed oil every 5k miles, and drive like i stole it. never a single engine issue for me..

modern engines prefer to practice the life they will live early on, so as to not surprise it one day and throw a rod.
never leave new engines in idle or constant rpms for extended periods for sure, but you can certainly open it right up after the first 50 miles or so.

My manual had a break-in process so I followed it. No higher than 55 MPH first 300 miles I think it was. It also said no hard WOT-type cranking from a dead stop, but said some harder throttle pulls are good at speed. Unfortunately since I was driving it home cross-country it was almost all interstate I did the best I could. Annoyed a few people the first day with the speed bit but traffic was mostly light and I stayed on the right. Did some harder throttle pulls on hills to help ease congestion there as well to match recommendations. Changed the oil when I got back just in case a bit under 3k miles. No uncommon issues yet, knock on wood, so assuming it's all as normal. Not burning anything that I can tell so far, sticking with stock Pennzoil for now since local dealer has had 3-fer specials.

I did / am doing this. I’m at 4,000 miles, so far so good. Amsoil 0w-40 at 3000 miles. Archoil 6200 in every fuel tank. After 3000 miles I pretty much drive normal, but I probably will wait until 10000 to really be hard on it.
