My 97 Ram 1500 with a 5.9 is bucking and sputtering when it's cold. When it does this, the tach needle drops like it's going to stall. It will idle fine. If I step on the accelerator then it starts sputtering and the tach starts jumping. When it warms up . The truck runs fine. No cell or pending codes. To me it acts like the ignition is shorting out. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my '98 2500 5.9, the ignition wire from the coil to the distributor had rubbed up against the exhaust manifold and was shorting out causing the same symptoms. I'd check that first...good luck.
