Went to a automatic car wash. After getting on the road my wife and I heard what sounded like water. A few hours later I decided to check cabin air filter to see if it needs replaced. It was very wet. How "normal" is this. Truck is an 18 with under 3000 miles on it so covered under warranty.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Not normal at all. I've been through many automatic car washes in my 2017 and haven't had this happen to me. If I were you I 'd replace it myself and then check it the next time you use one and then maybe try the dealer if it happens again. I've actually never heard of anyone having this problem.

With Aircon systems there is or should be a drain to allow condensate to drain from the heater/cooling plenum. On older model years the drain could/would plug off and mildew would result which made for a smelly HVAC system air circulation. If you can check that the drain line is clear. Sorry I can’t direct you to it’s location. You might like to do a test. Run the AC and look for the condensate dripping on the passenger side under the truck If no drip the drain is plugged I’d guess.

Talked to mechanic at work about it. I work at a Dodge Jeep Chrysler Ram dealership. He stated when going into car wash that washes undercarriage to make sure you have climate control set to recirculate the air so the water wont be able to enter from underneath. I am replacing cabin filter today and will be going through car wash with recirculate on to make sure that cures the problem. Either way I will post and let those interested know.

I’ve been running non-recirc on the HVAC through the car wash. With underside wash and no issues. 2018 model year.
