K&N CAI has whistling noise that sounds like someone is literally whistling with their lips. Isnt permanent comes and goes. Normal?

I'm shopping for a CAI. From what I gather its a normal sound for the K&N types especially that some refer to it as a turbo spooling sound.

Do you have CAI with metal or plastic ducts? Apparently the metal is loudest for the whistle, plastic less, and the Blackhawk dry filter version least.

I had that happen with the last intake I had, a Chrome tube that routed down in front of the headlight. Turns out there was a small leak somewhere in the tubing.

on the move..

Sorry a bit of an idiot with abbreviations. If your refering to the sensor in which i had to drill a hole for then yes.

i think he is talking about a throttle body spacer.

as far as the whistle that is pretty much something that ive seen across the board with CAIs on multiple vehicles. could be a leak but its pretty common for what ive seen

A slight whistle may be common, if it's pretty audible, I would check for a leak somewhere.

Make sure that the sensor that goes into the tube is facing the right way. If it is sideways it could make one hell of a whistle.

I have a strong "whistle" which I always thought sounded "like" a turbo, though not exact.

It's more pronounced if I get on the throttle.
It's VERY quiet and to most probably not even audible at a light/normal acceleration.

It's got the stock intake unit on it. So I guess I should lean more towards a hole in the intake?

Actually, I'm talking more out of a learning experience here being ATM I'm contemplating going with a VARARAM setup ASAP.

No it doesn't have a throttle body spacer. The best suggestion i've seen on here so far is checking the sensor to make sure it isn't sideways. I have a long weekend coming this week so i'll get in there and take a look around. I'll post my findings for others having this issue.
