Well, first post from a newbie. I currently drive a 2004 F150 FX4 that has 230k miles on it so I am shopping for a 'new to me' truck. I am looking at a 2012 2500 Laramie/Diesel 4X Megacab that is priced right and looks fantastic. Only problem is it has the 'Cargo Management System' on the truck bed ... which is okay until I want to put a shell on my truck and get lost in the wilderness for a while. Does anyone even make a shell for that truck? Or should I keep shopping? I really really LOVE the looks of the Ram trucks and I'm ready to go to the dark side.

Thanks so much for your input!

If the cap is a must have, then I would keep looking.

Yea I agree ... I'm gonna keep looking. The diesels really seem to hold their value! It's almost more cost effective to buy new. I may have to change my search criteria!

Thanks all!

Could always check out the 6.4 hemi in the new trucks, unless you need the ability to tow heavier.

Yea, not going to do any heavy towing. For the most part it will be myself and my two wieners traveling some back roads looking for some great landscapes to photograph. I am looking at the truck shells that flip up and become a tent like this one:

I am pretty certain flippac is out of business, and I'm having a hard time finding a suitable replacement. I know they make rack top tents but they all have a huge ladder pretty much straight up and down that wouldn't be good for the wieners. The flippac idea just seemed to open up the bed of the truck to a nice sized living space. I MIGHT pick up a small trailer just in case the wife wants to go on one of the trips. Highly unlikely though!
