Been trying to figure out AlphaODB I bought a new 2018 8.4 radio (didn't get the code from salvage yard) for my 2017 RAM 1500 and want to install it. I can pull the 4 digit code (3xxx) from the from my 2017 truck radio frequency hub.
I installed the 2018 radio and get hit to enter in the radio code.. tried to read again AlphaODB gives me the same code.

Guess i have to visit the RAM dealer to get this radio code to get my new radio working working.

The Radio security code isn't the same thing as the RF hub pin.

The RF hub pin is for programming key fobs. Connecting to the Radio Frequency Hub is pretty irrelevant. You should be connecting to the Radio.

To get your radio code, you'll probably need your radio's serial number and to use a service like this one, or similar:

Although, if you connect to the Radio with AlfaOBD, there is this option. I've always wondered if it would bypass the security code by imputting your trucks vin directly into the radio. If you try it, let us know what happens.

Then VIN write:

and there is also this one:

Or, it could be the integrated center stack (ICS) module you need to be connecting to. Not sure:

I tried the AlphaODB option selecting All Radio Navigator module MY2017_Var.1 and Var.2 and could not connect..

Using ODBlink MX+ adapter.

I tried other options and still could not connect to the radio.

I had a stroke 2 years ago and recovered limited use of both arm and hands so removing the radio to get the outside data is tough but i'l try it for the other options suggested

when you selected the module you wanted to connect to, did you actually click on the connect button? I know there is an autoconnect selection, but it doesn't always work
My '16 ('16's and '17's should be the exact same) needs that done every time I switch modules using MX+ and AlfaOBD on windows.

If you are looking for the PIN, go to RF Hub on the car model selection.

Then select read PIN

they told me the pin is for keyfob and not the radio code. I could not connect to the radio at all. I'm pulling the radio back out to get the serial number and try the 'hack' listed in the thread. if not then i'll try the service and then go to the dealer as last resort.

Because of the stroke I had . using both hands for work is dicey but its getting better.

Folks take care of yourself. A stroke is no joke. I've been blessed with good recovery but not everybody is the same..
