Can someone explain the difference?

As for the throttle body, you would need the 87mm for the 2014-14 trucks. If purchasing this with the intake, we take an additional $20 off on the throttle body for you.

Ported throttle body is not necessary at all.

Like Tyler said, the ported TB is not required...it is just an optional upgrade. So many guys add the TB with the intake that we decided to offer a discount when purchasing these together.

The Vararam will not make that big of a difference in under the hood noise, I could tell the difference between it and my stock intake, but it's nothing like the K&N my dad had on his '04. That being said, it does make a difference performance wise, and that I could definitely tell. I had a chrome tube intake which went down behind the grill and it was a noticeable improvement.
