So I've been reading up on adding NAV to my 2015 2500 and from what I can find, it looks like since I already have the non-NAV 8.4" display that all I would need to do is swap in a NAV capable 8.4" unit. Is this correct or will I need additional adapters? Thanks in advance!

If you have an 8.4A, it's already in the radio and you can have the navigation "unlocked".
8.4AN radios from the factory have the navigation already enabled and can be set to "pop up" on the dash 7" EVIC. When you unlock 8.4A navigation, it does not have this option. Maybe someone who has swapped in an 8.4AN radio can verify if this feature is possible to be added.
Before spending a bunch of money, read up on what others say about the factory navigation. It was already in my truck when I bought it, knowing "how well it works" I wouldn't spend the money on adding it to my truck.

The NAV cabable navigation is ok. I had it on my 2014 Durango R/T. The dealer threw it in as part of the deal. It does NOT have the voice activated navigation...which I never used anyway.

I like the in dash navigation overall and wouldn't spend $50K on a truck without having it. Its handy at times. Thats my opinion though.

When I do cross country trips (2x per year) I run dual navigations...in dash 8.4 and I have a Garmin on the dash (now on a Bayou Goat Mount). I do this as I set them for different things (national parks, the hotel, restaurants, etc). Works well for me...but may seem like overkill to others.

The Garmin is very good overall....and the 8.4 Navigation is adequate. I like them both for different reasons though.

The dealer activated 8.4 Nav used to be $600.... in 2014....not sure if its less expensive now. If I didn't get the Navigation in my current Ram Rebel I would not pay $600 for it today with a perfect Garmin being $200-$300 at most.

My Rebel happened to come with the full Navigation so I'm happy. I haven't had time (or a trip) to play around with it yet though.

Thanks for the help! I have some thinking to do. I kind of got spoiled by having an Apple CarPlay deck in my Mustang and loved being able to use the maps app through the head unit. I know there's ways to mirror the iPhone screen but I'd rather not have to ****** with the phone screen when I have that big beautiful display in the dash.
