I'm having an issue with cargo light tap. I have a led brake light bar on the back with reverse lights. I wanted to wire the light to turn on when I press unlock. After splicing wires when I press the cargo light button it flashes and goes right back off. Now granted these lights are also wired into reverse lights. So when I put it in reverse it comes on and everything stays on. Is it to much on the wire? Or do I need to add a fuse? Advice please.

Does the cargo light stay on though?

You want it to stay on like the cargo light does for a little while?

No the cargo light will not stay on now. Turns on and off really fast when I try and turn it on by pressing unlock or the cargo light button. But when I put it in reverse it all turns on and stays on. The light bar has two spliced in it. Reverse lights and cargo light.

I'm not the most intelligent in this area. But my guess is that the answer will be something that includes the word "can-bus".

And probably something like "resistors".

IMO

Your best bet is to run the tap to a relay and then the relay will take its power directly from battery. I believe the issue you are having is related to the canbus on our trucks being very sensitive to any extra resistance it detects.
And yes it is better to always add a inline fuse when adding any extra circuits to your vehicle.
A normal 30amp relay will work.
Pin 86: Tap from cargo light (+12V)
Pin 85: Ground
Pin 30: +12V from battery (inline fuse)
Pin 87: Wire to LED light bar

I had a very interesting fix. I swapped the cargo lights and the reverse lights with LEDs. Bam no more issues. I think you were correct with the power draw. Proves LEDs take way less to run.
