My wife has ruined MANY cables on her iPhone, while I still use the one I got in 2017.

But. There is a post about updates for the 2018 uConnect.

RAM says we top out at like 22.6. I'm running v40.something just fine, and have been for like 4 years.

This is exactly what I am dealing with on my 16 Pro Max running iOS 26.2. I have been on the phone with Apple over 2 days providing videos of this happening. They forwarded my videos to engineering for review and a solution. Check your phone and see if you catch it restarting when it’s plugged in to power or charging wirelessly as this is also a related problem. It doesn’t do this when running on its battery. I have factory reset my phone once and put the phone into DFU mode and restored, forced reset with no success. For now I disabled CarPlay in my truck and just connect via Bluetooth. The only way I have found to get CarPlay working is to plug the phone in and let CarPlay freeze, then I power down my phone wait 30 seconds before powering up and the unlock the phone after powering up and connect via my USB C cable or wireless depending on what connection you have. Then CarPlay works just fine. I have to do this every time I get in the truck.

IMO this is related to charging and or CarPlay since this is the only time this happens. If anyone has a iPhone don’t update to iOS 26.2, this all started after that.
I've had this on my 2017 Honda Accord for years and I just recently upgraded to iOS 26

Tomorrow I’m going to check into how my IPhone 16 pro with 26.2 plays in my 18 BH.
I’m using an Ottocast Mini wireless CarPlay adapter. Currently the only issue I’m having is the need to unplug the adapter to reconnect at least once. I updated the adapters firmware once already and noticed an improvement. Since I’m updated to 26.2, I need to verify stable connectivity. I’m only in the Ram 2x a week on Monday morning and Friday night to commute.

I don't have my Ram anymore, so I don't know if there was a connector there. I have always just used a lighter plug, because I knew it would not bother things.
My bad, forgot U traded in yer new ride, as yer Avatar still shows 2025, but glad U R sticking around. Need all the "common sense" we can get in this crazy world.

Ok I just went to my truck and all is good on the wireless CarPlay adapter is. However, I know that tomorrow morning about 30 minutes into my commute I’ll get chip broken audio in my music and SXM shows. I’ll have to unplug and reboot the adapter.
After the last Apple update, I did a firmware update on the CarPlay adapter.
I just checked out the firmware today and so far there is no update after updating to iPhone 26.2.
I’ll check Ottocat support page to see what I can find.
Update: I’m running latest firmware on the CarPlay adapter.
Only thing I’m not sure of is the Uconnect software version. On the screen it refers me to Ram bs page and they’re looking to sell me a new truck.

UPDATE: I spent Sat and Sun at the Apple
Store 42 freaking miles one way from home. On 2 Jan apple support called me to relay that the engineers looked at the videos of my problem and the corresponding analytics data from my phone and determined it was a hardware problem that failed (won’t tell customers what part) and the phone would need to be replaced. Said software was fine. So I go to the Apple Store this past Sat and let them know about what’s going on and what the engineers said. They would not do a hardware replacement and insisted on a repair first. They replaced the logic board( brains of the phone) and battery. As soon as I leave and get in my truck CarPlay starts acting up the same was as described to them and in my post earlier. Tried 2 more times when I got home and got the same result frozen unresponsive CarPlay. So after numerous phone calls with support I go back on Sun (today) and tell this entire story over again! The condescending nerd runs a diagnostic and the phone fails again! He won’t watch the short video I recorded this morning showing what’s happening. Gives me a run around the block description of their instore process and wants to replace the same parts again! Nerd won’t or can’t tell me what part failed, why it failed, and won’t go any further than that. I refuse the 2nd repair and get on the phone with support to demand a express hardware replacement. New 16 Pro Max will be here hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday and then I’ll send this problem child back to them. In the meantime time I called my carrier on Sat and use my free upgrade to get a 17 Pro Max and it will be here tomorrow. I’ll send my carrier the new replacement 16 Pro Max when it arrives. The instore nerds are useless clowns and nothing but part changers and diagnostic screen readers! I could train my Border Collies to do that and they would do it better than those useless turds and give me more useful information. Customer service no longer exists in this country and if it does it’s like finding a unicorn and a leprechaun together giving out gold bars! Oh yea over the last 2 days I called Apple support and ripped them a new one about my instore experience and I’m pretty sure they are tired of me calling. I’ve called so many times I have lost count. I may call again later to vent at my next victim! MAYBE!

I HAVE the same OS on my radio from when I bought the truck, and the truck was made in April 2018. Everytime I go to U Conn update page says truck up to date. I know it is not, but since all works, no sense fixing something not broke.

My radio is plain jane U CONN 4 only, no 911/NAV etc so I do not get OTA's. Update would have to be dealer installed. I have a good SA, and he told me, NO TOUCH unless it goes f-ubar as the updates were bricking the radios, and that was back in 2019 some time.

Only the first 3 were in India, everyone else on the support number was in CA. The ones that really pissed me off was the instore condescending nerd yesterday and today! Well I’m calm now and like I said my new 17 Pro Max arrives tomorrow afternoon. Now I’m waiting for the expected survey link they will send so I can throughly rip someone a new one that way and I plan on using their feedback link to send them more of my frustrations. I’m even rooting to get today’s nerd fired if I can.

Nah I spent my time on surface ships! You couldn’t pay me enough to serve on a sealed tuna can underwater! They do have the best food in the fleet, carriers are 2nd!
I try not to get all mushy, cause we know how PPL were, now they just throw it out there, but being there, Thanks for yer Service.
My deceased wife's older son was on the Nimitz.

UPDATE: Gave up on replacing the 16 Pro Max. I just wiped it and sent in to my carrier as the trade in. After talking with the techs at the authorized service center they concluded it’s a software issue based on the number of complaints from others calling in about and the videos I showed them plus with this happening to me across multiple vehicles and phone models. So I got my new phone which is experiencing the same issue with CarPlay. I have disabled CarPlay in my truck for now and just use a regular BT connection until Apple pulls its head out of the toilet and acknowledges and fixes this issue. The tech seems to think it has something to do with the initial hand shake and security protocols between the phone and infotainment system that’s causing this. I don’t know but this needs to be dealt with ASAP. Oh well life goes on and it’s not the end.

IMHO, so very humble, not think OS 26.2 the problem as an OS, since I have it, no issue, and runs fine on my I Phone 14 PRO, the Carplay does exactly what it is supposed to do, and the AI junk is exactly why I am not upgrading my phone, regardless of the incessant emails and notifications in my phone account about being eligible etc.,.

I think it is the changes in the Apple Phone architecture with the built in AI and how programs interact ie., security protocols and handshakes etc.,. Can U turn off the AI on the new phone and try it that way, or is it so built into the phone that turning it off is impossible?

Of course, my thoughts can be skerry and 100% wrong, just trying to think outside of the box. Just a suggestion from an old tired Boird.
