I have an inop catalytic converter on my 2016 Ecodisel. In lieu of paying the dealer $3k plus I’m considering doing a delete. Opinion? Any reputable diesel mechanics in Southern Florida that would to the delete?
Yes, it’s throwing a P20EE code. Engine performance is not degraded yet.

You wont find anyone to delete due to the feds, they destroy any shop that deletes. Plus its worse then that activist groups sue and win million dollar judgements against shops that delete, ask heavy d. Best bet dyi. Especially that delete, particularly bad in their view. If your cats are shot I imagine you EGR ain't in good shape as well.

I agree with Burla in theory...BUT, if it were me, I'd be looking for a backwoods exhaust shop and not a mechanic shop if it ain't something you can do yourself. Or, if you wanna replace it, just buy a new cat and have the exhaust shop put it on.

It doesn't hurt to try, but in this case how could someone say it is a reputable shop. If you find it most likely paid under the table and off the books job. But my guess any shop knows what a bad idea that is currently. Probably every shop worries any job could be a set up and major problems coming for them. High risk low benefit, I doubt he finds one. Good luck either way.

Excuse my ignorance, but since Florida is not a CARB state cant you use the cheap version Cats? Is it different because it is a diesel? Cheap ones still throw CEL?

Are you throwing a code or is it flat malfunctioning? Can you try extending the sensor like we all do on gassers. Bought my bro 5 years using one of those when his engine rings tanked - um allegedly.
