Bout to have a shop redo my exhaust and I originally planned on putting my stock cats back into the pacesetter ORY. However I really like the sound of the truck with the new cam running through my FM 50 series.

Emissions isn't a big deal, I'll just non-fouler the rear o2's. my main concertos loss of bottom end. What do you guys think?

I prefer dogs.

Anyway, modern cats are much less restrictive and effects on removal depend on how far you've modded your truck. Sometimes removing them causes more headaches than its worth.
My '02 only has 1 cat which I found kinda odd as many newer vehicles have multiple cats.
Also removing cats can be a legal problem in some states. There are always ways to beat emissions testing but you could flunk the visual and there's always a chance you get pulled over by a cop with a heavy pen and nothing better to do. Most of the time it will give you a better tone with your exhaust if nothing else. Just some stuff to think about.

Oh yeah, many moons ago I sold a Camaro with a custom true dual exhaust to an older guy who was giving it as a surprise gift to his son. He brings it to his mechanic (a straight up by the books guy or **** stirrer depending on how you want to look at it) for state inspection and the mechanic pumped all kinds of nonsense in the guys head due to it not having cats. The guy comes back to me with all this it's an illegal sale crap and nonsense. Basically after sorting through all the BS he was looking to get some money back. We had a discussion and I sent him on his way. Still a lot of drama because of missing cat.

I ran with no cars for about a year. Put them back on because them smell is very strong. Overwhelming at stops with windows down.

I got rid of them kitties when I did my engine swap. The smell is kinds strong I'll agree, but I can't put any cats back on with my air flow rate, I'd just be puking platinum out my tail pipe in short order. They make a big difference in exhausts note that's for sure.

He could talk about his experience then rather than just tell me my exhaust is ****. And I happen to like it.

Anyway. I'm probably going to have them put in, as long as they'll fit. I really do love that raspy idle especially with my lopey cam. But I'm not a huge fan of the smell, and it'll be easier to sell when that day comes.

Realistically for $200 more I could have a Y with cats and a Y without lol.

I don't need to pass emissions here, so no reason to keep them on there. Rarely has anything I've owned kept the cats on there very long.
