First post and my first truck - 2011 Ram 1500 QC Bright White.

I've been looking through the tint threads and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I noticed most go with 20% or 5% front windows. I would really like to go 35% on the fronts but IL law says with factory tint, we can't go lower than 50% on the front windows. 50% seems like a waste of money but I was at least wondering what that looked like but couldn't find any pics. Also noticed not many pics of 35% fronts either. So...

Any pics of 35% front windows?
Any pics of 50% front windows?
Any IL folks know of reputable shops in central IL that will do "illegal" 35% on the fronts?

35% was perfect for me, ND has the same laws about the fronts but LE hasn't bothered me yet cause I have 20% over the tint in the back window so it shows a huge differece in shades.
Side note we have 50% on my wifes fusion and it helps, but looks more like stock tint from manufacturer.

Thanks Etroze. I can imagine 50% all around on a vehicle would help but I don't think it would look right next to the 18-20% dark factory tint on the rears. I had 35% all around on my G8 and it was perfect for me. Dark enough without too much attention.

Our law in MS is 28% on front, Back of trucks can be as dark as you want.
That being said I told the Tint Shop I wanted legal in the front and the same over my stock back tints. I went to get my inspection sticker and when they put the tester on it my fronts read 12-13%. That was a year ago, I have yet to be bothered. Most of the time around here if your not acting like a fool, nobody cares about tint.

A couple cool guys at the local Ziebart said they can't do illegal tint any more because too many people ratted them out when they got pulled over. They even said one cop bought a tint meter just to crack down on tint locally.

Etroze - even tho it looks like you have a Regular Cab, do you have a good pic of the 35% on your side windows?

I was told fronts are 35% in the front where I got mine done. I'll have to find the name of the shop.

Right and I belive the brand is LLumar and it has held up pretty damn well over the last year. It matches factory tint really really well when I compared it to rams on the dealers lot.

Llumar is what I had on my G8 for about 4 years. Held up really well.

I'm in central IL and as far as I know, 35% is the legal limit. I have 38% on mine. I got it done at SunCool in Springfield. Here's a pic on a sunny day to show the light transmission.

I had mine done at Matt Fleming window tint in Bellevue, cost 200 bucks for all the windows and front window 6 inches down, I got 25 % in the front and 5 in the back, it looks great and I would def reccomend them. I'll get pics tomorrow for ya. I'm near Peoria here.

Wendy - That's exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you for the picture!

Clemzexp - Thank you for the pic. I'd really like to match the fronts and back like what you have because that looks great but I'm thinking it might not be worth the hassle that I'll probably get in town here (Bloomington).

Mine are the 16% and and match the back perfectly. Also did a 5% brow. I also live in Illinois and never been hassled with it. Look around a ton of tint now . cops sent gonna hassle you unless your doing something worth pulling you over for.

Another central Illinois owner here...I'm having a hard time even finding a place that will do 35% with the factory rear tint in place...its annoying as hell.

Truck N Stuff won't touch it...

Word on the street is Ziebart in Ottawa will do anything you want. I believe you have to sign some sort of waiver stating that you understand that it's illegal.

Mouth-that looks darn good. Thank you for the pic.

I just put 50% on my fronts and with the dyed glass it should be around 42%--while its not as dark as the backs it still gives the same uv protection and on cloudy days or at night it looks dark enough-- I can see at night better than the 35%--plus keeps the po-po away because now they want to see if idiots are texting !!

I'm down in southernish Illinois near Saint Louis. Here's my truck with factory tint only in the rear and 35% on the front. I have been pulled over with this tint on and not questioned about it. Might I suggest if you go this route that you invest in a bright LED dome light bulb and turn it on if pulled over at night. I wouldn't go any darker than this as it becomes difficult to back up or see out at night with darker tint.IMAG0244.jpg
