I'm guessing you could but the only thing you'll gain is the shape of the plug will be USB-C instead of USB-A
There's no speed advantage of the USB-C port or high power charging capabilities.
Buy yourself some Anker Type C Charger Premium Nylon USB Cable , USB A to Type C Charging Cable

They work great for streaming music whether is via radio media or Android Auto and they hold up lots of use. I have two plugged in at all times in my truck, one in a charger the other for the AA port.

Why do they bother putting in C-port if there is no gain in charging? That's the purpose of using C over A. Wouldn't make sense for them to spec a different port $$.

Have you confirmed the C-port hub doesn't have higher amperage vs the A-port hub? Never seen an amp limited C-port. I've seen others upgrade from A to C port hubs. Wouldn't make sense to do so if you gain nothing.

+1 on the Anker. Good stuff. Own several of them.

A proper usb c outlet will charge the phone twice as fast as the usb a outlet. That’s what I’m after. As far as cables go I prefer ones from monoprice. They are good quality with lifetime warranty that they honor with no questions asked.

It's not as simple as just using a USB C Port that has to be the right charging technology.

Just for an example Samsung uses adaptive charge which is a version of Quick Charge then you'll have the phone such as Google pixel for example that uses power delivery charging.
Then crApple with lighting charge, advice is a modified version of power delivery.

The newer Quick Charge version 5 is cross-compatible with power delivery charging but not quite at as high an amperage so using the proprietary power delivery charger you'll get a higher amperage meaning a faster charge

all they've done is brought us back to the old battle between VHS and betamax or Android versus POS crApple products

The one thing they have in common is the power source has to have USB PD 3.0. The previous specs won’t cut it no matter what brand of device is being plugged into it. How the device uses that power may differ from brand to brand. The device has its charging tech built into it. It just requires the correct power source to operate properly.
