Hey all,

I got my 22 rebel a month or two ago. It has the all black leather interior. I really liked the black and red. What are my options for converting to the black and red interior?

I have found a complete set of seats and dash modules on eBay. I can find door panels I think that would be almost everything so if I really had a hankering to spend $5000 I could get it done and I’d have all my OEM pieces to sell, but I’m thinking there has to be a better way.

I can’t find any good OEM interior trim kits that would just have a snap in red panel pieces. I see one or two pieces for sale here in there at 50 bucks apiece or so. That would cost me probably just as much as the above approach and I still have the seats and doors to deal with.

So yeah, give me advice and opinions. Feel free to tell me I should’ve bought it and red the first time around. It was a steal. I took what I could get.

You should have bought one with the red/black interior. You're welcome. :33:

I don't know of any kits for converting your interior. You might go to an upholstery shop and see what they would charge to recover your interior. Katskin sells replacement seat covers, but that only addresses the seats. Another option would be to find someone with the red/black interior who would be willing to trade with you.

You should also know that the all black leather interior is made with higher quality materials. The red/black seats are vinyl and cloth, while your black seats are leather.

I did not know that, and that does affect my decision making. The Rebel GT seats had red in them right? Is that cheaper material as well?

The red/black interior is the basic Rebel interior. I believe there is an option combo with the GT package that gives you red/black seats, but most combinations only give you black seats with the GT package. I realize this doesn't help you now, but your best bet would be to work with a sales rep at your dealership of choice, and use their configurator to build the truck you want.

This idea won't help with the seats, but people do miracles with vinyl wrap as far as the hard plastic dash, door, etc. parts.
There's many colors and patterns like a carbon fiber look, even different faux wood patterns.

OK, here is where I’m at so far. I found an original OEM supply for all of the red trim pieces in the front of the cab at least. I have attached a picture and a quote.

I can spend that plus another $1300 on door panels and get close to what I want. So, my question is, am I insane for even considering it? $2600 for some color trim?

Is there a Forum sponsor that can do better?

I’d like to post in the buy sell trade and wanted sections of this forum, but I have insufficient privileges. I assume that will come with time and activity?

Would anybody like to trade their seven red trim interior pieces for my seven carbon fiber trim pieces?

Has anyone ever done a fully custom interior? Any idea when something like that is going to cost?

I personally think you're nuts for wanting to spend that kind of coin on it. I love my black/leather Rebel interior on my current Rebel. I had the black/red on my previous Rebel, nothing wrong with it but the leather is so much nicer. By saying your nut's absolutely is not meant to be derogatory, I have spent insane amounts of $$ customizing my Harley's, a lot more than your quotes! It's your truck tho and you do what's right for you. You should also check with the scrapped truck area, I am sure that there are 22's out there totaled at LKQ or similar with the interiors you are looking for rather than buying brand new from dealers.

I asked for it, and I take your answer in the spirit in which it was offered.

The junkyard idea is a fantastic one.

I agree with @PoconoJoe. It's your truck and your money, and you're free to spend whatever it takes to make you happy with it. For me it was wheels/tires, exhaust, and intake, among other less expensive items. For you it's the interior. Just because I don't agree it's a good use of money doesn't make it wrong for you. Have fun with your truck and make it yours.

Found a guy selling TRX door panels. They would fit a Rebel, right?

I say go for it. I had a Bronco with brown interior. Changed it all to gray with red trim. I loved it. There are company’s that have genuine leather covers that look factory if done right. Upholstery shops can do fabric changes but that’s pricey. You can repaint plastic but don’t cut corners and it looks good but I wouldn’t repaint brand new interior. Maybe just add accents and trim. Good luck.

U might have to take a trip over the Walt Whitman to find them in a junkyard, lmao.

Why do you say the door panels won't fit? They are a direct swap from what I've read.
If they are, they are. From what I understand, the body is different from other Ram versions and that also includes the doors. If the panels fit, then ok, but theres really not a whole lot of similarities between TRX and the other models. If they fit, Id like to know since Im willing to do the same thing with my Big Horn but Im under no impression anything TRX is going to fit. I know that console isnt going to fit without some modifications...

The TRX has more in common with other 1500's than you think. Sure, much of the exterior sheet metal is different. Fenders, hood, grille and other front end pieces, and bed sides are all different. But from what I've read the remaining cab sheet metal are the same, which would include the doors. Meaning interior pieces will interchange among other trim levels.

So, this past weekend I went out in the woods, and I pinstriped the ever loving F out of the sides. It made me realize I should probably put a protective wrap on it.

So now, instead of worrying about a red interior, I’m busy puzzling over what color I should make the exterior. Here’s a couple choices I like.

What is the general consensus on wraps?
