Keep the truck, fix her up good with new body panels and get a good paint job. Keep the truck, its still got a fairly good engine with many miles left on it. Maybe modify it a little and put your own touch on her. Thats what I’m doing with mine, I value my truck too much to sell her for so little value.

So you changed your mind, then. Good man. Ever gonna 5.7 swap it?

((BTW, yeah guys, I'm keeping mine. **** it. Lol, I'm not dying from the fuel cost. I'd like it to be better, but I can manage.))

Yeah, I realized I love her too much haha. I’ve really been considering it since the head gaskets may be going on it. If I find a good donor truck on Copart or something I’ll definitely do it.

If I hit the lottery I'll drop you my motor. ;)

If you find a 6.1 in a you pull it, snag it up. I believe there's a thread and/or videos somewhere on this forum or another where a dude basically dropped in a 6.1 and had it working on an 05 hemi pcm.

Hmm interesting, I wonder if the 2005 pcm would work on all my 2006 components? (i.e guages & electronics)

Anybody else remember Earl Scheib "I'll paint any car for $99.99!" ?

They charged extra to tape newspaper over the tires and even more to remove trim.

As to the OP's pictures, he's got cancer where the paint is bubbled, and that driver side fender/door crunch is a walkway moment unless I'm looking for passenger side parts--and then I'm not paying with Benjamin's.
I guess I'm a bit older than you 'cause i remember the Earl Scheib "Paint Any Car for just $29.95". We're talking back in the '50s! LOL:artist1:

Don't see why not. It's just a face-lift. You'll have to have the pcm and dash programmed to the correct mileage, though, or you'll get a code. I think.

Nope. Nope. Wrong. You don’t need a pcm reprogram.

Sounds good, what year and models had the 6.1?

Chargers, challengers, Chrysler 300’s. If you can find a 6.1 block, it’s easily $1500-$2000 just for a block. They’re aren’t as many available and they are highly sought after. You’d be better off stroking a 5.7 block (cheaper) if you are considering this, unless you want a big ole 426. The factory 6.1 block is painted orange, and will have 6.1 stamped into the block for ID.

It’s still gonna be 6k to build a good reliable stroker engine. Then there are extra costs for supporting mods. Let me lay it out for you...
Upgrade the fuel system and injectors
Upgrade the transmission to handle the power, easy $2500 minimum. It’s gonna be more to upgrade the 545 you have
Traction bars to handle the power. I got crazy wheel hop now with mine
You’ll need a tuner and custom tuning
You’ll probably want a stroker cam, upgraded springs and rods to handle it
Upgraded timing set, fuel pump, ARP studs are a great idea but another $450 at least, good head gaskets cost me another $160
Machine work on my block cost me $900

It all adds up really quickly. There are a lot of other necessary supporting mods that go along with it

Dang, I think I should just start off with buying the 5.7 and seeing where I want to go from there lol I know I will most likely be buying one with somewhat high milage so I know Ill be rebuilding it . I may look into some performance parts while I’m in there.

Yeah and the extra cost of the donor wiring harness that I didn’t have. I don’t know how much goes into a swap from a 4.7

I’m sure ill need a new wiring harness and computer. Im pretty sure the 545rfe can bolt directly from a 4.7 to a 5.7 but don’t quote me on that Ill have to research that.

It will but it’s a terribly expensive trans to build and it still has problems holding power. That’s why I have a 46re in my basement waiting for build up
