I have a 2012 Laramie and the check engine light goes on after I get gas-but it usually goes off after I use about 1/4 tank of gas. Its a pain because I can't use my auto-start when the check engine light is on. I know it could be a gas cap-but that doesn't seem to be the case. Any other thoughts or should I take it to the garage?

I'd get the code read before doing anything. If you don't have a reader you can get it read for free at any auto parts store. Or you can get a cheap Bluetooth OBD2 reader on Amazon for like $10-$15 and read it yourself.

Next time the check engine comes on, have it scanned to get the code. Most likely the fuel level sensor is going bad. This just happened to my ‘14 and it has been documented many times by others (see links). I just put a bottle and half of Techron complete fuel cleaner in the tank to see if it helps (concentrated 20oz bottle). Techron works up-to 20 gallons and my Ram is 26 gallon tank.

Mine ended up being the fuel management system. They had to drop the tank and replace parts. All curtesy of Maxcare. :)
