Hi there,

New to Rams. I bought a used 2021 3500 Longhorn last year. Haven’t used it much as I primarily use it for trailering boats around and occasional dump runs.

After getting hit in my wife’s car last week I’ve decided to put dash camera in all our vehicles. I attached the camera to the windshield and plugged the camera into the cigar light which is in the tray on the dash…….and nothing. I didn’t know if the camera was defective or the the cigar lighter wasn’t working. I plugged an adapter into the cigar lighter and still nothing.

Then manual says it should work with ACC or ignition on. It says fuse slot 93F is for the lighter. I popped the hood, find the fuse slot and it’s empty. I pull another 20 amp fuse to see if it fixes the problem and it doesn’t. In fact the fuse just falls into the slot. There is obviously no wiring/clip to hold a fuse in place. It really is just an empty plastic slot.

Has anyone else experienced this? Why the heck would a cigar lighter not be factory installed and working? Particularly on the high end model. I know I can run wires to the auxiliary switches but why should I have to when the lighter is right there.

Thanks

Thanks Tron67J. I checked that one as well. No luck.

No luck as in there's no fuse or no guts to hold a fuse?

I have 2 power outlets or cigar lighters on my truck.

One is in the bottom of the console cubby, to the right-side and below the phone holder. The second is on the backside of the console for backseat coverage.

Are there 2 in your truck? If not, this would explain why there isn't a fuse receptacle for F93.

Back to F90/F91. It's a dual position receptacle to allow the user to select constant or switched power.

On my 2015 it show the same F93 20a fuse for the cigar lighter on the dash as the 2021 !

OP did the socket ever work ?
Maybe try a 20a fuse in the F93 slot as maybe the previous owner need that fuse for something else to work ?

My Ram is a 1500 and the fuse you’re looking for on mine is under the steering column. Is yours not there? I pulled ignition on power for my cb from there.
