Someone needs to really explain the climate control options for my RAM. 2015 Big Horn 8.4

1. Is there an option to just vent in fresh air?

2. When setting my temperature it seems the A/C can kick on, even if the A/C button isn’t pushed. Is this possible, the vehicle independently manages to the set temperature?

Well crap. As far as I know, you should be able to run the fan with the AC off. I think if you set the temp to Lo it just runs ambient air.

Yeah, it’s just not intuitive how to get the ambient air to vent in.

Your truck should just bring in non air conditioned outside air when it's on vent as long as you don't have it on auto if is equipped with the Auto Temp Control. I would recommend turning it on vent and looking under the hood to.see if the compressor is running. Not sure what the history on your truck is or if it came with the ATC option or you added it but many of us who have upgraded our trucks to the ATC noticed that our A/C compressors were staying on even when we had our trucks on vent. We realized that there was a humidity sensor that needed to.be installed as well that we didn't know about and after we installed that option the compressor turns off like it's supposed to. If your truck came with ATC from the factory is probably just staying cold for a little while cuz you had on AC already best thing to do like I said it's just open the hood put it on vent and make sure the compressor is not running.

Thats great feedback. Can you point me where to look under the hood? Pic maybe? Thanks.

Then your A/C compressor is on the drivers side lower front of your engine. It's kinda tricky to see if it's actually engaged because part of the housing always spins. When it's engaged the inside of the housing will start to spin as well. I recommend having somebody sit in the truck with you watching the compressor while it's running and have them turn everything completely off and you'll see that the compressor shuts off then have them turn on the air-conditioning and you'll see the compressor turn on. That way you'll be able to see what part of the compressor spins when the AC on so you don't understand what I'm talking about then turn off all the auto controls turn the fan on and put it on vent the compressor should not spin at this time.
